Permission form for 10/17 is due by: Thursday October 16th by 12:00pm.  Click on the link here or select from "Forms" subpage.  Your student was also given a hard copy of this form earlier in the week.

Our final fall drumline performance will be this Friday, October 17th as part of the Pope HS home football game vs. Wheeler.

Permission slips for this event will be sent home Monday and Tuesday, and should be returned to the bandroom no later than Thursday at 12PM.

All drumline members should report to Pope HS between 5:45 and 6PM.

Parents, please drop off and check-in your student at the same place you did for 8th grade night last month: the front of the school, under the blue Pope High School letters. A High Meadows director and volunteer will be there to check in your child and take them to the warm-up area.

Drumline members should wear jeans, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and a white t-shirt. Drumline shirts and hats will be distributed to the students during warm-up.

The drumline instruments, carriers, sticks and mallets will already be at Pope.

The drumline will march in with the Pope band around 6:45 PM, and perform their cadence alongside the PHS drumline.

The HMS drumline will then sit in the stands and play stands tunes as guests of the PHS band for the first half of the game.

The HMS drumline will watch the Wheeler and Pope HS halftime performances.

After halftime, the HMS drumline will return to the bandroom to put instruments away.

Parents can sign-out their students in the PHS bandroom after all students have returned their instruments.

An approximate pick-up time will be between 9 and 9:15, depending on how the football clock runs during the first half.

Thank you for encouraging your child to participate in this evening.  We feel it is probably one of the highlights of every year and thank you for supporting your student and the evening.

We ask that you have your child at POPE High School, between 5:45 and 6:00 pm.

You should drop your student off at the front of the school under the big blue letters reading POPE HIGH SCHOOL.          Mr. Wright will be signing your student in at the curb.  Our parent chaperones will escort your student to the band room to join in the activities for the evening.  At this hour you should have no problem getting a good parking space in the front lot.  You can purchase your tickets for the evening at the white ticket booth at the entrance to the field.  The POPE side is to your right as you enter the gates.

After half-time our band members will return to the "green room" AS A GROUP to pack up their instruments and gather their things.  You can enter the building at the gymnasium entrance and follow the signs to the orchestra room where Mr. Wright will be signing students back into your care.

Once again, we thank you for your support of your student, our program and the evening's activities.

Every year the Pope High School Band invites area middle school band students to join them for an evening of fun and music while performing at a home football game.  This is a great opportunity for all, and it is our hope and goal that all members of the Drumline will participate.

  • Students will need to be dropped off at the front administrative entrance of the school, marked "POPE HIGH SCHOOL" in blue letters between 5:45 and 6:00 pm.
  • Parents will need to pick up their student(s) from the orchestra room, located in the hall to the bandroom, after Half Time (approx. 9:15 PM).  Please understand, for safety reasons, we will not dismiss an unsupervised drumline member
    • Parents, you must report to a Band Director to sign out your child.
  • The High Meadows drumline member will wear:
    • Official Drumline shirt
    • Jeans
    • Trainers, tennis shoes
The permission form was sent home with your child last week and was to have been returned on Friday the 22nd.  Many of these forms are still outstanding, please turn these in by Wednesday, AUGUST 27th so we are able to give Pope HS the number of High Meadow students who will be participating as they have requested for planning purposes.  If you need another copy of the permission form, you can download it from "Forms" page tab at the left.

HMS Drumline Infomation
  • The first rehearsal for HMS Drumline will be this Tuesday, August 19th, immediately after school until 4:00 in the Bandroom.
  • The first drumline performance will be September 5th at Pope High School as part of the PHS 8th grade band night.
  • Rehearsals will be held EVERY Tuesday immediately after school until 4:00 through October 14th. Members are expected to attend EVERY rehearsal, as the drumline is a performance ensemble.
  • Instrument assignments will be announced at rehearsal this Tuesday, August 19th.
  • Fee for participation in the Drumline is $200.00, and is due on Tuesday, August 26th. The participation fee includes instructional costs, uniform cost, and instrument maintenance.

The HMS Fall 2008 drumline auditions will be held on Friday, August
15th, in the bandroom between the hours of 12 and 1:30PM.

Each interested student should be prepared to play the audition material as posted (music can be downloaded from the bottom of the "Drumline" page), both standing still and while marking time (moving your feet to the beat).

Please note that Goal Setting conferences are also scheduled during this time frame. Each drumline audition should last 5 minutes or less, so students should plan accordingly to make time for both their
drumline audition and their goal setting conference.
